Pastor Isaac Scott is a Multidisciplinary Visual Artist, Journalist and Human Rights Activist. Isaac is formerly the Associate Pastor of God’s Touch Healing Ministry and is currently a Community Pastor at Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, NYC. He is a Fellow at the Center for Institutional and Social Change at Columbia Law School and Founder & Executive director for The Confined Arts at the Center for Justice at Columbia University, where he spearheads the promotion of justice reform through the transformative power of the arts. Pastor Isaac is a Columnist for the Columbia Spectator and his research at Columbia investigates social and institutional methods of dehumanization in the justice system and the role of art and popular media to decrease punitive triggers in the US criminal justice system. Pastor Scott serves on the U.S. Prisons Program Advisory Council for the National Religious Campaign Against Torture, and his passion for equal human rights runs deep, and comes as a result of being directly affected by the criminal justice system and its disenfranchising nature. Through The Confined Arts, Pastor Scott has applied a strategic arts engagement methodology to criminal justice advocacy by organizing public art projects, online art exhibitions, poetry performances, and storytelling projects to interrogate and bring about awareness around the intersecting pathways to incarceration. As a result of the impactful work of The Confined Arts, Pastor Scott received foundation support as well as a historic 4 consecutive Change Agent Awards from the School of General Studies at Columbia University, where he currently studies Visual Arts and full participation in representation as a Justice in Education Scholar.

In 2019, Pastor Isaac launched Quarterly Films, a culturally sensitive and socially concerned independent artist-led film and media group of Isaac's Quarterly LLC. Through Quarterly Films, Pastor Isaac provides video & media services and consultation to local change agents, innovators, and artists who seek to produce media content that confronts stereotypical mainstream media misrepresentations of poverty, race, culture, group identification, and social injustices by centering the voices of those people who are physically and socially impacted from the inside out. As a Certified Producer and Director, Pastor Scott is committed to producing video and media content that represents the true, lived narratives of stigmatized people.

Pastor Isaac understands the healing power of the arts; it holds the power to transform both the artist and the audience. He also believes that art, in every form, can and does effectively change perceptions and conquers stigma. Through his own lived experience, Pastor Scott personally understands the need for realistic representations of individuals, like himself, convicted of a crime in the past. Pastor Scott has dedicated his life to using his creativity, in every way possible, to continue educating, building lasting relationships, and promoting change.

Visual Art Profile

Three years into a 9 year prison sentence, I was introduced to the arts. As one of the innovators of art and activism in the modern movement to end mass incarceration. My artwork is explicit, honest, and intentionally meticulous in many ways. As you navigate through my works you will find that I have uniquely utilized a multimedia approach to shaping the visual culture of Art and Activism in human rights advocacy and prison aesthetics.
